Oil Pickup Tube
Quick question for you 22RE specialists. I replaced my oil pan gasket, and of course had to remove the pick up tube. Now it started and ran fine up until about 20 miles, on my way to the house, I heard a sound similar to some steel tubes banging together. Followed by loss of power and a rough ride. I coasted off the interstate and parked it. Well it will start and run rough but it does not stay running no longer than you stop turning the engine over. So would you think I lost oil pressure? And my thought, nothing coming from the pickup tube due to it not being properly tightend or ??
Thanks for yalls input

That does not sound good. I would think of a couple of possibilities; you did put the pick up tube back in, right? Did you check and clean the screen, and hopefully you cleaned out all the gunk in the bottom of the pan. Anyway, I would not run it again until you take a look at the bottom of the motor.

yeah thats what I was thinking. See I work at a DIY garage so I was helping ppl out and running back to the truck for a few then back to customers. So I really can't say I bolted it up properly. I did however use the parts washer to clean the pan and pickup tube with solvent so it was clean. Man fun fun stuff I tell ya.
