Oil pick-up tube issues
As some of you know, I swapped heads on my 3VZ-E for FE heads. In doing this, I had to use the oil pump with the hydraulic tensioner. The pick-up tube on this oil pump bolts up horizontally across the engine (the flange is mounted flat horizontal to the vehicle) The stock oil pump and pick-up tube mate at an angle.....maybe 30 degrees from horizontal.
I figured that someone on here could help me because, the new oil pump is the same one used on the 5VZ. I had read about those whi have done the swap using the 3VZ-E pick-up tube. If I do this, the brackets won't mount to the main caps. I could bend it and make it work, but I'm worried about it clearing the crankshaft.
Does anyone know what I need to do? What pick-up tube will work? Or am I looking at a costome mod?

Alright, there are alot of people that have done a 5VZ swap, but no one wants to help me out on this one.
Does anyone think that I could cut up the stock pick-up tube and solder up some copper tubing in it's place? I don't see why it wouldn't work, but thought I'd try to get some input.
Anyone going to offer any on this one?

Well, no one ever did reply to this post, so rather than ripping apart a Camry or Taco in the salvage yard, I just went down to Home Depot and got some copper pipe with a few bends. I've got it all soldered up and tested. I made it shorter than the stock tube, so should help alittle on cold starts(very little).

I just saw this thread Dan, hope that works out for you. When I did my swap the ORS kit came with a pickup tube that bolted right in the place of the 5VZ tube. Not sure if it was a 3VZ tube or what. I never had the oil pan off my 3VZ to look at it.
Good luck with your 24 valve 3VZ testing!

Thanks for the input.....testing is a ways off. I still have to wire up the Megasquirt and build my turbo manifolds.
The oil pick-up tube was the last hurdle as far as the mechanical part.
Well, other than a small timing cam issue. I think it's figured out though. It's more of me being an idiot than an issue, lol.
