No need to reef on the oil pan bolts. Just watch the gasket. Truck has been running great with 0 oil leaks since we did it a few months ago.

Im glad that cv stuff made sence Jason, though I have no idea what this speedy sleeve thing is you talk about

I have the black silicone. Is that RTV?

The speedy sleeve is a sleeve that goes over the crank where the rear main seats, so it seals where the grooves are worn into the crank.

I'm doing the same job you're doing right now. There's two gaskets because there's a plate (might be a crank scraper) between the engine internals (crank, rods, etc.) and the oil pan. You'll see it once you drop the pan. To remove the plate, you have to pull the oil pump pick up tube. Unfortunately my gasket set didn't come with a new gasket for that. I've been trying to locate one, but have had no luck. It looks like I'll be making one myself.

Ya, the 3VZE has a baffle plate between the block and the oil pan.

So I guess I forgot to update this....

A few days later, I had 'er all put back together. I have since done the valve cover gaskets. I think the only other leak now is the oil cooler. I have parts comin' in today and then I think the gross polluter will be leak free (well as far as oil goes...)
