Exclamation OFF TOPIC: Need help with wire repair!!!

Hey guys, I have a shielded braided wire with a outside ground. This is a power cord. The dog chewed it in half. I cut it, twisted the ground and twisted the braided wires, nothing. I am sorry to post here, but my wifes laptop is dead and she has to finish a paper, I would have posted it in "electrical" but it was 2 viewers vs. 76. Please help, how do I reconnect these wires back together.

make sure you have the right wires connected to the right wires
if possible use but connectors and crimp it, but i suppose if you dont have any and need it now you could just twist the wires together really good and wrap each separate wire in electrical tape but it could be a fire hazard so i would watch it closely. also a dmm would help you to make that it is together right and there are no other breaks in the wire

I thought I was. I connected the braided together and then I connected the out shield together and still nothing, very lost.

It is only a center braided wire and a stranded shield outside if the center insulator. Only two things to connect. I just don't know how to connect them and she still has 3 pages left.
