oem hardware kits

hey guys. im in the process of a front axle rebuild (pulled from an 83 p/u) and as i am browsing replacement hardware on the factory catalogue it occured to me that it would be awesome to be able to purchase an assortment of toyota sized JIS bolts/nuts/spring washers that are zinc or stainless or cad plated. i have seen such kits for cruiser guys, but they usually contain alot of pan head JIS screws that we just dont use on our trucks. i would like to start a solid list in the thread of common hardware they, if YOU purchased a hardware kit, would be in such a kit. some things that jump out to me include hub and dial bolts, caliper bolts, hardtop bolts, dash screws, seat bolts, bumper bolts, skip plate bolts, cross member bolts. this feat will take me some time to do, but i have a nut/bolt supply company her willing to work with me on making everything. no 13 or 17 mm home depot BS. correct sized and right lengths. maybe im wrong and the market is way to small for this, but i feel like there are enough people bringing these trucks back the right way now to warrant. thoughts?

22REperformance sells those kits individually , just trying to help you out in the mean time. they mark them up substantially as far as i can tell. i have purchased several sets of hardware form them because its convenient.

Might be (more) worth the effort to figure out what's not still available from Toyota.

i could assemble a quality JIS hardware set for fractions of what toyota charges. from what im looking at, a can source a high quality JIS bolt for an average of 30 cents, vs on average 1.50 form toyota. i dont think there are many bolts on these trucks that can not still be sourced, just adds up quick.

since I have a 3vze I never think to look at places like that...why don't you come up with all those types of kits for the 6cyl guys

I know when I was putting the headers on my truck, in order to make the installation easier, I went to the dealership to get some exhaust studs to replace all of the crusty bolts and it was a bit expensive for that hardware..but then again they did come in little Toyota baggies, so there was that too...

I think if you could break the kits down into categories, ie:
steering and suspension
Engine
interior
Body mounts
Etc

So that when someone is working on a project, they can by a kit without having to buy every nut and bolt on the truck. It could also help you roll out the idea by going section by section.

This seems like a good idea!

How close to Toyota factory hardware is your supplier's hardware?

Not only do I want the hardware to be as good as the factory Toyota hardware, but I want the same look as well.

Maybe it is the OEM purist in me, but I really don't like the look of standard, "non-Toyota" nuts, bolts, clips, and screws.

so, this was the first thing that crossed my mind. A lot of Toyota hardware is MIC stamped on the head and the hardware I can get is plain, no stamp. But it is all JIS so it would be the right size heads and such. I have the option of going stainless or coated (zinc and cad) price varies obviously. I’m going to sit down tonight and see if I can price out a hub kit, so far I can get it all, even the studs, other than the cone washers.. REALLY wish I could find the cone washers but it’s not something most people use or make.

Nice, I'd like to see what you come up with. For instance, one thing that bothered me back when I did some interior work was the bolts that hold my front seats on were kindof rusty. I cleaned them up, but they still don't look good. I thought about having them plated, but having like 8 bolts plated is probably not cost effective. So the 4 bolts that hold seat down, plus the bolts that hold the shoulder belt loop to the floor, all of them seem to be a bit rusty...so if those make it on your list, I would be a buyer.

I bought a plating kit from Caswell ..
I wanted to be able to have the correct brackets as well as bolts for my build .
Is a bit of a learning curve , but so far im getting good results , I'm sure it'll pay for itself in no time .
