Odd Codes
Just got a 92 4Runner with a V6, it's awesome, however, i'm experiencing a code that i've never experienced with any other toyota i've owned. It's blink code #71 (Cali only) EGR system Malfunction, Gas temp below normal. and also #14, Ignition Signal, NO "IGf" signal to ECU. Now, the stumper here is, it still runs great, can't find anything wrong. it does not idle rough, and it still runs like a top. weird. so if anybody has any insight into this, let me know.

71 suggests that the engine reached operating temperature and the ecu tried to actuate the egr valve but the temp sensor on the EGR valve reported the exhaust temp was not correct.
pull the EFI fuse (should be under the hood in the fuse block behind the battery) for a few minutes and go driving like nothing ever happened. If the problem doesn't come back- and the 71 will throw the CEL, nothing to worry about.
The code 14- no IGf (I Got fire) is related to feedback from the igniter to the ECU. Basically stating that at some time after the engine started running, for 8 crank revolutions, at least 6 of the spark events did not result in combustion occuring. Causes there could be the pick-up coil in the distributor, the ignitor or the ECU, or the wiring between those components. Clear the codes and see if it comes back.
