this is a noob question. do you have to prefill a fuel filter when installing.

this is a noob question. do you have to prefill a fuel filter when installing.

i have no idea because i never work on gassers, just diesels.

oh ok. on the diesels, you have to fill the fuel filter or it wont start.

nope...done this several of times and I've ran out of gas several of times. lol.

I'm guessing thats a Cummins on your avatar? Always wanted on!

i never have... diesels though, yeah. that, and changing the oil, is all i can do on diesels. all i want to do on em anyway... lol.

prime the filter before you crank the truck over. (turn the key in the on position for a couple seconds, so the fuel will go through the lines and the filter.)

No, just install the new one.... and then turn the key on for about 20 seconds to prime it, maybe repeat one more time to be safe, and then fire her up. Mine usually only needs about 20 seconds of priming, though

Actually if you want to prime the line, you'll have to jump B+ and FP in the check connector with ignition on - that will bypass the circuit opening relay that powers the pump. The COR doesn't trip until the start signal, so just turning the ignition on doesn't engage the pump.
