Noisy Top End 1991 Toyota 4Runner
I have a 91 4Runner that has noisy engine,clacks alot,odometer says 215,000 miles but motor supposably is a replacement with less than 50,000 on it,,I cant verify this,any suggestions? maybe a top end rebuild,I heard these lifters cant be adjusted is this true,Thanks

Valve adjustment is probably in order. If you haven't had it done, and no record of the previous owner doing it...then I'd say you're due. Mine need to be adjusted again, and I get the same "clacking" noise you're describing.

Assuming you are talking about the 3VZE V6.
Thing about valve adjustments in this application is that they'll usually get tighter over time than loosen.
Now, having said that the 3.slow is a noisy engine. The injectors themselves are very noisy.
I'd suggest you find one like yours somewhere and listen to it, what you are hearing may be normal for the 3VZE.
