Are you sure it's from the rear? Know what bumpstops are?

could be bunches of things- wheel bearing(s), differential, loose brake hardware... you may have a lsd or something in the rear causing one tire to drag when you're turning.
Does it make more noise turning left or turning right, or about the same?

bump stops are what limits the travel of you axle. if your missing yours your tire may come in contact wiht your body or frame during axle articulation

Steering stops... that's the word. Thanks Leebee.

The steering stops/bump stops are on the lower control arms. They're crescent shaped and catch the large bolts that are on the bottom of the backing plate of the front wheels. Look and you should see them.

As said, they limit the turning of the front wheels so your tires don't rub the frame, body, or steering components. It's pretty common to be surprised by the noise they can make if one doesn't know they are there. They require frequent greasing and maybe even end caps if they are worn through.
