Thanks rusty ya just went and tried it again and nadda.

Just odd it just went out lol, but it looks like the factory one along with the plug wires lol

now i can use like a msd blaster coil or something right? any certain way to hook it up? and will the yota wires work on them since they have that little clip on the wires.

Not sure if I missed something, Sleeping, but I thought you mentioned you'd added a ground to a particular wire? Just want to make sure, if that's a no-no, that you make sure with these more experienced guys before putting in a MSD or something EXPEN$IVE, that you remove that ground if it's not supposed to be there.....if it might just fry the new coil.

Gotcha! .....Ok, so, just to put in my 2 cents, ....I'm not 'anti-mod', AS YOU CAN SEE, lol....but some things, like the coil, O2, Secondary, Thermo-Sensor, etc., ....I just think OEM is the way to go. It depends on how many modifications or extra 'umph' you're going to put into it, ...but you have to think about reliability and performance, right? My coil has lasted 260,000 miles, and still going strong. If it were me, I'd be looking for a used one, maybe a new if the price was right, and you CAN find them online, ...heck, even on here. I think JBM715 has a bunch of stuff like this....not sure if that year or not, or if it matters, but just a thought.

x2

I see no advantage to an aftermarket coil. Especially since you will have to modify the wire connectors to get it to work.

hi there sleepingciv
i'm aware i might be toooolate for the party here
but i just went thru the same hell of frustration with my 89 pick up v6 4x4 i had spark comming ot of the coil but nothing else came out of the disttributor after buying a new computer sugested by my crappy mechanic here in mexico it turned out to be the piece that spins inside the distibutor (i forget the name/i'm not a pro)
so if am mot too late for you clean the crap out of the distributor and see if the spining thin is in good shape (check continuity on it and on the rest of the othe contacts from the inside out)
check your wires too i bet you one of them is bad
again i might be too late but i hope i am of some help to you
