Guess I'll be buying the trailgear 4" front and rear springs sooner than expected. I snapped a rear leaf spring this morning by backing out of a parking spot at the bank. I limped it back home about 25 miles tonight in a snowstorm. Fun.

It snapped clean at the ubolts... weird.

here's a pic of my rear end articulated

i actually got my left rear to come off the ground a bit...

all 4 of my 35's rub. you can see in that last pick i've actually dent the quarter panel of the box cux my rear tire hit and pushed up the sheet metal a bit... haven't come up with what i'm gunna do about all the rubbing cuz little by little i keep breaking my fiber glass flares. so you might get some rub with 35's.
just wondering what type of paint you used on everything? i gotta paint all my suspension and under carrage cuz it's got surface rust everywhere from all that salt from the road.

Nice truck, I dig that older style bed. I'm definitely doing that with my shocks. I used plain old rustoleom semi gloss black rattle can on everything.
After putting about 100 miles on it with some daily driving I've noticed some things. Driveline vibration at about 15-20mph that goes away pretty much totally after that. Just did the driveshaft u-joints and my t-case and rear diff flanges were recently off to do seals so I'm pretty sure they are still torqued down. Might just be the increased angle on the t-case and driveshaft or the fact I flipped the tires back right way around after running them backwards about 1500 miles... Not sure.
After putting my front bumper and winch back on I get a lot of bottoming out on the bump stops. The truck sits level, I'm just thinking the trailgear 4" springs are too soft. When braking and making turns while hitting small potholes I can hear them bottoming out. Also I didn't trim the bumpstops any before welding them on and it doesn't look to me like there's enough clearance. I had nothing to compare to at the time so I just welded them on and was done with it.
Should I trim about and inch off them and weld them back on? I seem to still have plenty of draglink/tierod clearance, also oilpan clearance.
One more that thing bugs me but is totally unrelated... seems I have to buy about $70 in adapters and extensions from marlin crawler to make those transfer case e-brakes work since the VSS (electronic speedometer sender) sticks out towards the flange and is in the way of them. So I need a mechanical speedometer sender, a marlincrawler mechanical to electronic adapter and a speedometer cable extension
I guess the only upside is I can sell the t-type VSS in my truck now for about $100 since they're $200 new.

There's probably only about 3" or 3.5" clearance there.

so thouse are trail gear bump stops?
your bottoming out. is your truck a 3.0L V6?
trail gear doesn't make the 4" heavy duty springs only 5" heavy duty springs which i believe are a bit stiffer due to the 3.0L.

I just cut the bumpstops off. No problems so far and no more bottoming out.
Ordered BFG KM2's - 35x12.5 15's. Read nothing but good reviews on them, looking forward to getting them on. I'll be putting my 33" claws up for sale.

I loathed the xterrains I had on ST1. Didn't do good in the mud, and after 25k miles they sounded louder than the tsl's I put on there next. Which is weird because I've never heard of anyone complaining about road hum on xterrains, but I kid you not, it was up there with boggers in the loudness.

Don't think they make a 35 on a 15 rim? Also, expensive
Reason I went with the xterrains is after running claws as my last 2 tires and being really happy with how they did in various terrain, I figured the xterrains were a very similar pattern but with siping also so they'd probably do better in rain/snow. Road noise makes no difference to me.

Played around a little bit today. Front driveshaft doesn't hit the skid plate anymore but I can still hear something hitting or binding. I'm guessing I'm going to have to tackle the task of clearancing the front driveshaft http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/cvmod/ looks like a whole load of fun

It's been so gradual in growing that it really doesn't feel big to me, or even look big. Until I see it next to a stock truck that is.
