No 3.0 altitude compensation? what a joke

I had a 91 V6 auto for all of 6 weeks (was going to be my 3.4 project truck but flight school got in the way). I did one 700 mile road trip in it and found that around town in drove just like my 5spd 22RE Runner. On the hwy it did about a little better on the hills. O/D was kicked out any time the front pointed up, but I still got 17mpg the whole trip. This truck had 195K on it. It wasnt the fastest thing on the road, but it wasnt the slowest either.

Hmmmmm, now that im bummed out that my Runner is gutless up in the hills, im perplexed with the the thought of shoe horning in a big block? hehehehe ....... i got one on the engine stand just waiting to go in something!!!

In my old Chevy S-10 with a throttle body, 2.8L v-6 I kept the air filter cap on upside down and used a K&N filter to open up air flow. I had to flip it back over in high altitude to even drive up a mountain, it wouldnt even move with the air intake like that, but It was also bypassing any sort of air intake sensors like that, I just didn't know what I was doing, but extra air was terrible for it.
