the platinums will only cost an extra $5, and trust me you'll understand why you dont wanna change em again once you do it once on the 3.0

A little off topic, but what is the proper way to check the plug wires? Is there a special way or is it just look for cracks and tears? Sorry for the dumb question...

You can just check the resistance of the wires. The typical wire has about 10k ohms per foot. Typically, you want to change them every 60k miles.

thats correct on the wires. there should be an actual factory spec for what is within the acceptable range for each motor, but im not sure what it is off the top of my head
