Will that fitment be the same as a 1st gen? Or is that going to be a whole different setup? Please tell me they are going to make for 1st gens too.

As far as I know, the Auto's were a little different, not quite sure in what regard though. I'm still learning all the differences myself....

Anyone care to pipe in here??? Were the Auto tranny's slightly longer or no?

BTW- no updates as of 1:45 CT

Length isn't an issue as far as headers are concerned, but the bellhousing area is usually the issue if there is a difference - like the clutch slave or the starter being in the way. For exhaust systems these things and the trans oil pans can be clearance issues that can be different from autos and manuals.

I think the auto trans cooler lines are the issue with some headers for the 3.0 and that's why they are listed differently than the 5 speed. I would plan on having to relocate the trans cooler or putting in an aftermarket cooler if you go with headers.

I sure hope they do a before and after Dyno run to prove the benefits.

Much awaited updates!!!!

Quote from Steveh29 who was gracious enough to let Thorley have his 'Runner for a week to test fit headers:

"Dropped my truck off at Thorley this morning at 8AM. Here's the story. They only have one set of prototype headers. They will test fit them on my truck today and tomorrow and then put everything back to stock. I will pick up the truck on Thursday morning - with stock exhaust back on. Then they will take the prototype headers and use them to make a production run of 100 sets of headers. Once the production set starts coming out they will take my truck a second time and test fit a set of the production run headers to make sure they fit OK. So, I don't know how long it will be from Thursday when they are done testing the prototype until they actually go into production. I do know they've been working on the design for two years and everybody there is antsy to get them in production. The place I went to is nothing more than a corporate office and shipping location. They had a HUGE warehouse full of every different exhaust system known to man. It was pretty cool!"

I think it's safe to say Thorley is serious this time!

The latest I have is that the prototypes were fitted & that everything went ok. Steveh29 said that the truck was back to stock & waiting for him when he got there, so no pics or anything. He did say he's hoping to be there when the actual production headers will be installed - & had no real idea when that will be since Randy wasn't there when he picked up his truck. So hopefully soon....

At this rate, the install might be a winter project for me!

i'm really interested. those headers would complete my future exhaust setup. i hope it's much cheaper than the other two leading brands. especially since my t4r is an auto 2wd.
