new hitch install ..
not hi tec or anything , but I thought I'd share ..

got it last week , but just didnt have time to install it .. It was a easy install about 1.5 hrs . actually should have only taken 1.0 hrs , but while I was under there , I did some other stuff ..
so in order to install , you have to remove the rear bumper , to install the frame brackets .. these didnt fit my frame very well , so I had to take them to the bench grinder , and remove a little material .

once the fame brackets are installed , the main drop brackets are installed for the hitch , and the bumper re-installed ...

Then the main section of the hitch is installed .. ALL bolts are then tightened ...viola .. a new hidden hitch .

sweet .. so now I can go pick up my TREKKERS ..
well , parts and pieces anyway .

yep .. they all even had # plates ..
I talked to winnabego a few years back , and was interested in purchacing the fiberglass moulds they used to build the beds and canopies , they told me they have been long distroyed .. so with the "1/2" truck I bought , i'm going to be building my own moulds .

I put that same hitch on my truck a week ago. Got it at JC Whitney. The instructions say you can just loosen the bumper brackets and slide the hitch on from underneath, but the hitch wouldn't fit. So I took the rear bumper off and I was able to line the hitch up with the frame from the back, and then tap it with a hammer to get it in there. Didn't have to grind. Nice tight fit. Ten bolts holds it on.

I put a similar hitch on my truck last November, but it was a DrawTite brand with 5,000 lb capacity. I wanted to be sure it would withstand whatever I wanted to tow! I was rear-ended by a Mazda Miata a couple of months ago and it did NOTHING to my truck (hit the hitch) but destroyed the front of his Miata!!

yep ... this one is 5000Lb as well ... fit was good , and the grinding was most likely specific to my frame , I was rear ended a while back http://www.toyotafiberglass.com/myaccident.jpg . my fiber tailgate took it quite well .. I was impressed .

You're missing one thing though - the little Toyota rubber hitch cover/plug that all new Toyota trucks come with that have hitches. I picked up one from the local dealership just to complete the "look." I figure it's better than having a trailer ball/ball platform in my hitch all the time that ends up rusting out.
