New guy, figured I would share my rig, with pics.

Hello, I am Bryan, I have found this site through a guy I bought a locker from. I do have to say, it is MUCH better than pirate, as far as the people are, and attitudes, so thats why I am here. I have a 1995 Runner with a Lexus 4.0 V8 (1UZFE) in it. I used to have a 3vze turbo before this, I pushed too much boost through it (20lbs) then it let go, so I then yanked out the 3.0 and bought a 1u from a local junkyard for 150.00 with everything. I then bought a prototype bellhousing from a guy in utah, as well as a flywheel for the 1u. I mated it to a W56 trans and gear driven single transfer case. I decided not to use the lexus computer and wiring harness, as it was way too complicated for me. I have had alot of experience with Megasquirt fuel and spark controll, so thats what this setup got. It is running EDIS with coil packs for spark. I have had the engine in there for about 1 month, and love it, great power, lots of torque and lots of LOOOOOOWWWWWWW torque. I dont even think I will go with dual cases now, as with the 5.29's and low range and the torque, not really needed for what I do.

I installed the solid axle about 6 months ago, after I broke the ring and pinion in the 7.5" IFS unit. It is an 85 axle, with armor, 5.29's and welded (was welded, now detroit locked). 35" BFG All Terrains, as this is my daily driver and I dont want a ton of tire noise. I have a V6 third in the rear with a lockright locker also.

Here is a link to my old 3v turbo setup

Here is the 1u when I FIRST got it running, it is now ALOT cleaner as far as wiring, hoses, etc. I didnt do a super clean job when I first installed it, as I didnt even know if the engine was any good.

Niiiiice truck!

How did you manage to do an SAS and keep the Procomp shocks?

Did you do an SAS kit or homebrew?

And does the guy that sold you the prototype adapter have a website?

TIA...

Those were the shocks I had on, when I first did the sas, as when I first did it I still had the remote mount turbo setup. And as you can see how I had my pipes ran, there was no room for shock hoops, so I just installed those crappy shocks. I now I long travel bilsteins on there now, for lots of suspension travel.

The guy I bought it from is

http://www.supracharged.com/

THats his website, NICE guy.

I used a trail gear kit.

Welcome to the family!
Nice looking truck. I was wondering did you do the body lift before or after the turbo install? (or is that just a suspension lift?)
How did the gaskets handle the extra boost?

I bought the truck with a 4" IFS suspension lift front and rear, as well as a 3" body lift. I left the body lift in, as it made the 1uz swap much easier. The head gaskets held up really well actually, it had felpro ones, as well as new head bolts. Detonation is what killed it, not boost.

The turbo setup actually helped ALOT. I would guess another 100 HP easy with my old setup. The problem was off boost torque, there just wasnt enough displacement with the 3.0.

The 1u swap was actually pretty cheap and easy.

150.00 for the motor at a junk yard, I pulled it.
350 for the bellhousing
200 for the flywheel (you could modify your 3.0 flywheel)
240 for Megasquirt
65 for wiring harness
40 for EDIS spark setup from junkyard, or ebay

Thats the bulk of the cost right there. Not too bad whe you break it down. I started collecting parts for months, so the expense wasnt too harsh all at once.
