New Engine!
hello all, after a fiasco with a low end rebuilt engine that only lasted 10K miles.. a proper engine has been delivered! i will update with more progress..
what i have saved from the old reman: LC Engineering complete EGR block kit
Pace Setter Headers (bad reman was a pre 85 engine and the stock 87 manifold did not bolt up)

all said and done its at $2000. the Joe Gibbs oil came with it, when ordered i didn't know they did that, very nice surprise to me! initial inspection everything looks beautiful. engine is simtested.
i just googled what this simtest thing is:
Sim testing is the process of using machine to spin the engine at roughly 750 rpms. This allows us to test for compression, proper oil pressure and any noises. It also allows the engine lifters to be pumped up thus aiding in elimintaing any start up tapping. The engine is not under its own fire or running on fuel at this point.
edit: stock build with new head on it.

Do you know what happened to the engine? Why it only lasted 10k miles....Did you have to pay for a whole nother engine or they will determine that when they take it apart and see what happened I guess?

engine that went bad was very poorly built. still has a great crosshatch pattern in the cyls, but the pistons rock in the bores.. was blowing a ton of blue smoke and burning around 4 quarts every 1000 miles. every gasket installed by the builder was seeping oil. that builder will not answer the phone or any other contact so far. cam and rockers were scored badly. (used cam and rockers were not resurfaced at all) and not to mention all bolt holes were painted over heavily rusted threads. i had to tap every mount hole just to get any bolts in.
