Searched the forum to no avail. My '89 5-spd, 4-cyl truck has about 120k miles and the original clutch. Methinks it's about worn out since it sometimes slips on hills. Boulder Toyota told me it needs to be replaced (when it was in for the recalled tie-rod thing this Spring) and they could do it for $800. I assume I can get it done for less elsewhere but maybe not. Any recommendations for a good mechanic in the Boulder/Longmont area? Any gotchas I should know about ahead of time when they get in there and start working on it? Nothing on the transmission has ever been replaced. Thanks for any suggestions!

 

Can't give you any names, but check with Charley's Garage in Boulder or Tim's Toy Shop in Longmont. I don't think either of them will do trannies, but they can probably steer you in the right direction.
