Need some advice.

First I would like to say hello to everyone, I really enjoy and value all the usefull advise I've been reading about. I'm a newbie to the forum and to Toyota. I recently was given a 1991 Toyota 2wd V6 4runner from my father. The body and interior are mint, the only problem so far is a rear main seal leak. Now my wife is in an uproar because it's gonna cost $600 to get it fixed. I personally think thats resonable considering how much of a PITA it is to change. What do you guys think? Is this a resonable amount to pay?

Considering the fact that the truck was $0, nope you win even if you pay that to fix it. There's nothin' particularly easy involved changing that seal. Was that from a Toyota dealership/cert.mechanic? Cause they'll probably quote ya somethin' higher. Then say, look honey, what a good deal. Who knows, it doesn't sound like way too much to me, that's for sure.

Nice looking 2nd gen!

How can the wife be complaining about a such a nice rig for under a grand? Your wife and my wife must have the same value structure, which can be summarized by their secret motto.

Complain about everything, unless it involves spending money on me.
