Optima yellow(add 1" spacer at the bottom--I used a 1" thick piece of plexiglas) or if you're relatively rich, maybe get an Odyssey battery...claims to be BOTH a starting AND deep-cycle batt in one, but seems to cost about $270!

Exide Orbital FTW!! you will have to mount it on it side but who cares? Its a gell cell. Did i mention it has 1017 CCA?

didnt see the subs/lights/winch part go a head and spem 30 bucks at your local stereo shop and do the big 3 upgrade as well..

I love my Optima. It's like the thing just won't die. GF leaves lights on cause I removed stupid beeper. It's fine. car sits for a month it's fine. doesn't matter what happens that battery handles it.

diehards are crap. yellow top if you wanna run all that stuff. if you're just looking for a decent regular use batt i'd recommend an everstart maxx(walmart) they're way cheaper than most brands (like $60ish depending on group size) and they actually got top ratings from consumer reports recently in a number of group sizes.

For those that got their Optimas at Costco, what group size did you select?....there are a ton at my local Costco, but they're little booklet next to the battery rack doesn't list Optimas as a fit for our trucks (I have an 88 pickup). I know they'll work, but just wondered what group size is the best fit from Costco.

Thanks!

How much is an optima anyway? I just got a new one from the dealer last time I needed one. Less than $100 and a 6 or 8 year warranty or something like that. It also sat in my driveway for 8 months while I was doing my engine rebuild, and when I went to start the engine for the first time, I had enough juice for a couple of 20-30 second turns with the coil disconnected, and plenty for the start after that.

they got top ratings from consumer reports, and i havent had any issues with mine. my previous batt was a diehard, and let me tell you, what a piece of crap.

I wasnt really interested in shelling out that much for an optima after all the horror stories i've read about them dieing after only a year or two...

I run an Interstate ... no problems and it's abused. I'll still switch to a pair of Optima's when I do the dual conversion.

the costco round here has the 75/25 group one with ca910 and cca 720 for $129 sounds like a pretty good deal

and trucksmart has the larger one with 800cca and 100ca for $179

is there much of a difference in the two, also the larger one has 10 more minutes of reserve time thats not much more.

which size did you guys get from costco?

Get the yellow top, the red tops are known for going out. They usually last around a year and then go out. A yellow top will get you much farther than the red or blue.
