need hitch advice

Hey guys,

I need to buy a hitch for my new 89 4runner to haul a small folding trailer with my dirt bikes on it. I'm looking at the trailers at redtrailers.com, which weigh about 250lbs. The bikes won't be more than 1000lbs at the most, + a few hundred lbs of gear or whatever else I stack on there.

Is a class one hitch going to do it? Am I screwing myself for the future? I assume a winch mount won't really work in a class 1 hitch cause they're pretty weak..

Chances of me buying a movable winch are slim, but I'd rather spend the extra hundred bucks now if I'll really need it later.

What do you guys think?

Class I (to 2000 lbs) and II (to 3500) are for light loads. Class III (to 5000 lbs) and IV (to 10,000 lbs) for heavier loads, obviously.

To be honest, just for safety sake I'd get a Class III. I have a Class I on my PU, but I don't do any towing.

You could get a Marlin Crawler bumper and get a 2" receiver that you can yank the truck with plus a pimpin' bumper in one. They don't really "class" it but it's Yotatech members have found it to be pretty darn strong:
