I will be removing the throttle body for the first time tonight. Any tips you might have for me?

I read the http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/TPS/index.shtml how-to guide, but it didn't get real specific. How much coolant will drain out? Will I need a new gasket to install or anything?

About how long would it take to remove the throttle body and replace the TPS? Thanks so much for your help!!

Probably a cup or two of coolant will come out, or drain a quart or two from the drain petcock on the bottom of the radiator then pour it back in when finished. 4 bolts hold the TB in place, there is a gasket between the TB and intake plenum that you could replace if needed.

well first of all when you unhook to collant line basically no collant will come out if you pinch it with pliarswhen you pull it off and then plug it with a bolt befor you let go. As far as romving the throttle body the pricible is easy. Removel 4 bolts and take it off but if yours was on there for 200k like mine then the gasket is probably stickign it on the pretty good. I had to use a block of wood and hammer to get mine the break free. As far as the tps i have never replaced one.

Id say a couple of hrs if you have all the tools and know what your doing. A little longer if your "feeling" your way though it.

Do I need to remove both the TB and the coolant line, or just one or the other?

Which coolant line is it? The big one like 1.5 inches in diameter right next to the TPS? Sorry to be such a newb, I just don't want to screw this up!

There is likely a large air hose and on the later model throttle bodies, a coolan line for the idle air valve. Early TBs have that valve separate. Simple answer is disconnect whatever is connected to the TB (air, coolant and vacuum lines, the throttle cable and TPS wiring) in order to remove it and then connect those items back when installing it. Mark/label everything well, take pictures before and it should be no problem.
