Need Help With Fuel Problem

Just Got My 1986 22rte Back Together After Total Rebuild. Go To Start It And It Wont Start. Comfirm Timing And Spark And Everything Is Good. Spray A Little Starting Fluid And It Starts Right Up Then Dies When I Stop Spaying. So I Guess Its A Fuel Problem I Cant Here The Fuel Pump When Key Is And Took The Line Off The Filter Where It Goes Up To The Fuel Rail And Turned The Key To The On Position And No Pressure. Please Help If Anyone What This Could Be And What Next To Check. Thanks

Does Any One Know What This Could Be. I Found Out That There Should Be No Pressure When The Key Is In The On Position Just When Started. I'm Getting Pressure Up To The Rail Just Not Enough.
Does Anyone Think The Vac. Line To The Regulator Is Routed Wrong
I'm Going To Try To Move The Flaper In The Afm To See If I Can Get Any Pressure. Please Help

Check the fuse and the fuel pump relay.

If there is fuel but little pressure, then it probably one of 3 things:

* weak fuel pump

* kinked or obstructed fuel line

* fuel rail regulator is stuck wide open

You can check the fuel pump by disconnecting the high pressure side either at the fuel tank or at the firewall then jumpering the test connector to force the fuel pump to come one. It should spray like crazy.

Arlight I Went Home And Took A Screw Driver And Wedged Open The Afm And Turn The Key To On Postition And Plenty Of Pressure And Truck Started Right Up. Remove The Screw Driver Or Press On The Gas And Dies Imedetly. You Can Hear The Fuel Pump Running And Sounds Like Fuel Is Going Straight Though The Rail Though The Regulator And Back To The Tank. The Vacuum Line That Connects To The Regulator On 22rte Where Does It Conn. To I Think I May Have It Hooked Up Wrong That May Be Why Its Staying Open. Thats My Best Guess Any Info Can Help

Possible bad AFM? Unlikely but just a thought. The AFM will turn off the fuel pump if the "door" does not open. Also, if you disconnect the vacuum line going to your fuel pressure regulator your fuel pressure will go up. Try disconnecting it entirely and plugging the vacuum line then try starting it.
