1992 toyota pickup 3VZE

Owners manual says must have gap of .031 and lists two options

NIPONDENSO K16R-U Part Number (3119)

or

NGK BKR5EYA

the DENSO has a gap of .028 and the NGK has a gap of .031

What is everyone else running? Should i get the denso and just regap it?

 

EDIT: found the denso's on amazon and they list the gap at .031?! So does anyone know which is it? .028 or .031?

Ok so I can gap it to correct specs if needed. Does it matter which plug I go with tho?

 

NGK seems to be the popular choice on this site. I use them with no complaints at all. You should check the gap on all spark plugs you install, regardless if they say they are pre-gaped or not.

 

Thank you for your help. I'll head out and get the NGK's then and check the gap before I put them in.

 

I've had good luck with the Denso's, but heard good things about the NGKs. Which one is cheaper or easier to find? When I bought both my trucks they had Bosch's in there. Changed out to Denso and it made a huge difference.

 

NGK's are in stock at the advanced auto parts a mile from my home. DENSOS i have to order so i think i will go with the NGK's. Toyota gave me that as an option so I don't see the harm in choosing them over the Densos.

 

Yeah go with the NGKs. Definitely felt a difference when I replaced the crappy bosch's that came in it

 

Well just picked up the NGK's along with stopping by the toyota dealer to pick up some filters and some oil. Looks like I'll be busy tomorrow. I'll let you know what I think of the NGK's

 

I've used NGK, Denso, & Bosch. Had all kinds of miss issues with the Bosch, the NGK/Denso never a problem. Either are about the same. The only difference in the cheapest plugs & the $12/each iridium/platinum are the change interval (+100k with the Iridium/Platinum).

 

NGK v-power for me too. I love those things. BMW gets the Bosch though. As like the Toyota they only like Bosch plugs.

 

I go to the dealer and say "I need spark plugs"

Tacoma cost me maybe $28 for 6

Pulled the plugs outside today. Felt like an oven

Anyways my spark plugs looked ok except for the fact the tips look worn down. Also broke a wire trying to pull out so I decided to go ahead and replace all the spark plug wires with some NGK's

Truck ran fine before I pulled the spark plugs but after seeing the old ones I expect it to run even better and hopefully get some better MPG's
