I got my Aisans in the mail the other day from a member here and unfortunately the 6 bolts that hold the two halves together are not there on either one. Does anybody know what size those are off the top of your head or could somebody pull one and out and check it for me? I know they have a 10mm head but that's about it.

It says 10 (100,7) Those don't look like part #'s to me. Sure they aren't torque specs or something?

10mm head, 6 mm bolt, 12mm long or so maybe. Just go by your local dealer and by one if you are unsure and then go by Lowe's and match them up lengthwise. Heck, I went by the dealer to get some replacements and the parts guy gave me a handful on the house. Yeah, you don't want to torque those little bolts much, maybe 13 ft-lbs at the most.

I'm pretty sure they are torque specs. 10 Nm, 100 kgf-cm, 7 ft-lbs.
Edit: And that's what it says in the lower left hand corner of Page 1 of that pdf.

i replaced all those with new ones from home depot, dont remember the size off the top of my head, but ill try and find out, ive still got the old ones. in fact, you can have the old ones if you want, but im sure it probably be easier(faster) to just get the grade 8 at home depot/lowes. i did it purely for asthetics.

Note: grade 8 is for SAE (inch) bolts. Metric would be 10.9.

The confusion arises because there is Metric 8.8 which equates most closely to SAE grade 5.

I would have never thought to look at Lowe's for grade 10.9 Metric hardware! Even if I had, I would do a lot of research before I bought any. Most foreign (read: Chinese) fasteners DO NOT MEET the specified strength/ductility requirements. This is definitely an area where you need to buy American.

FYI - not sure if they're all the same, but my local Fastenal does not stock Metric 10.9 fasteners - they have to order them.

M6-1.0x16MM Stainless Steel bolts ( buy 3 packs with 5 bolts each in them)
#12 Stainless Steel washers to go with the bolts (buy 3 packs with 5 washers each in them)

and sorry, tc is correct, they are really sae grade 5, however being this is such a low torque setting(7 ftlbs), and its essentially just holding the cap on, i figured they would be ok.

Thanks man.. I even looked at that write up to see what was involved in fixing them up. Guess I was only looking at the pictures. Glad he posted the part #'s too. The parts guy at Toyota was acting like I was on crack when I told him what gaskets I was looking for.

I went through that too when I ordered the gaskets from toyota except I had the part numbers and he said that I do not need those gaskets on my 90 model 4runner. So I was arguing with him for about 15 minutes on the phone until he finally let me buy them. Our dealer wants the vin number of our vehicle so they can make sure they are ordering the right part(s) otherwise they will not let us return the items.

I got the round head allen bolts from Downey way back. (I got them with the rebuild kit they sell after I got used hubs.) If you can find those at a hardware place they do tuck in nicely.

you don't really need to worry about grade too much for the dial bolts. the dial and cap don't bear any load, that's all on the hub body and the studs/dowels.
