Need 12 volt 10-amp switched wire

Can someone advise a good place to pickup 12 volt (switched), at least 10 amp feed under the hood? It's on a '94 pickup truck.

Thanks!

grab it from any ignition wire thru a relay. i doubt you'll be pulling 10A from any switched wire without lighting things on fire..

Or you could run a relay direct to the battery with a switched power source actuating it. What are you trying to run off this wire, some lights? If you are trying to power anything significant I wouldn't tap it into the existing circuits.

Yeah use a 30 amp relay straight off the battery (with about 14-12 gauge wire and a fuse on the + wire very close to the battery) and switch the relay with a factory switched circuit or you can add a toggle switch if you like. The factory wiring on these trucks is already a little under-sized for my liking, I wouldn't add much of anything to it without beefing it up.

Here's some info on wiring a relay:

I'll be driving a couple of contactors and a vacuum pump that draws ~5 amps intermittently. This is for an EV conversion. I've thought about adding a relay but was hoping to latch onto something (maybe for the EFI) that was already pretty beefy.

x4 for the relay.

an additional 5A is quite a bit on an already loaded circuit.

Yeah I was shocked when I saw how small the wires were going to my old fuel pump. They are much bigger now.
