name that part???

So today i was under my 93 4runner v6 and noticed on the drivers side of the block right behind the oil filter there is a round thing bolted to the block with a hose going to the front of the block..

any idea what it is?

the oil pump is external with only 1 bolt holding it to the block?

Dunno, I know the 3.4 has it (dunno if same part number :shrug: ) but it works by circulating coolant around the oil. I know that not all 3.0 came with it and you can add it on.

You probably could. When I used to go to pic n pull a lot I noticed that some toyota celicas with a 22RE actually had oil coolers on them. I should have pulled one and bought it, but I never did.

The oil cooler does not need maint.

Make sure the hoses going to it are in good shape, Total PITA if you have to fix one of those on a hot engine out in the middle of nowhere.
