Mystery coolent leak.

So every now and then ill go and shut off my runner after a drive (20 min or so), ill come out to it after it cools down and i see what coolent drip from the steering stabilizer. Its dripping off of the SS but its coming from somewhere farther up. I cant see where its comin from. Higher then the oil pan gasket.

Now theres a few drops inbetween the tranny and the oil pan. Its only a few drops but i notice it. I also cant see exactly where this is coming from.

Both of these leaks arent that big but i would like to get them solved.

What do you all recommend?

Is it squeaking a bit at all lately? How long has this been going on for, and is it getting any worse? This could be your water pump going bye bye...

check your hoses good, see if any are swolen or dry rotted. could even be a clamp.

EDIT: it might be better to check after driving it around a little bit. i had a pin hole leak in a radiator hose that would only leak when the truck was warmed up.

When i bought this back in november the PO said the timing and water pump have been replaced. But i dont know how long ago it was replaced, so like a week before i bought it or a year.

It doesnt leak when its warm it only leaks when its cooling down. Ill park it at night then go out the next day and ill see the "puddle".

Im going to go check the lower hose going to the block from the rad.

check all the heater hoses at the back of the engine, i've had a few get roasted and crack, resulting in the same drippage. some of them are a pain in the ass to get to, though.

I have found a that a good way to track coolant leaks (or oil) is to use a dye tracer kit thingy. Basically it is a small kit with a florescent dye that you drip into the coolant then use the supplied UV enhancing glasses and a UV light to track the leak, works really well. I have a kit similar to this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AM8BX6/...6&linkCode=asn Good luck with the search

Your welcome, I hope that helps you find it I know how annoying that can be. Oh just another note, if you wear the UV glasses do it in the garage or somewhere out of sunlight because the UV glasses are basically the opposite of sunglasses.
