Hell since you're so good at doing things on a budget can I send you a couple thousand dollars cash and an 85 4runner to build for me?

I'm thinking Rockwell top loaders and military 52/24.50/22's....... Get it done by this spring?

Just kidding. Keep up with the posts and pics, I like reading this stuff as it gives me something to dream about at night.

ok got some work done

here it is when i got it...it was missing the passenger(short side) innner shaft and birf

apart...and still COVERED in grease and oil

mostly clean...

the axle is out of an 82' pick-up...the 3rd member was never removed, the knuckles were never apart...and the 4wd drive was bearly ever used, cuase the ring and pinion had almost no wear on them

got some work done today...
i'm sorry for the crappy cell pics, but it's all i got for now
barkets removed, and some grinding done

close up on the knuckle balls...they are very pitted

what i used these to clean them up...

after the hitting them VERY LIGHTLY with the sanding disk...

after smothing them with the wire wheel...they are very smoth and clean

i think i'm gonna fill the pits using that JB weld trick

for the life of me i can not get the birf seperated from the inner shaft....i put the inner shaft in a vise and hammered the star with a brass dirft, all that got me was a swore hand(after missing a few times)...time to bring it to work and let the master mechanic try, he'll proablly pop it off in 1 hit and make me feel
