My 94 runner 3.SLO project. acckkk!
Well I have to admit these 3vze's are a little challenging to remove.
After reading here you guys all had me worried about the top bell housing bolts but personally those gave me the least of the trouble. However I used a total length of 3' of 3/8" snap-on extentions to pop em loose and I don't think I would wanna try it with any other brand.
Anyway what seemed the most pain in the a to me was the exhaust flange nuts. damnn they were on there good and I had to heat them up and use 1/2" drive to pop em loose.
Had 2 pull the converter with the engine also cause the damn thing was locked so hard...keep reading to see why as if ya already don't have a theory.
Getting ready to pull the 3vze thats locked up.

In these 2 shot u can see the overhead trolly my bro Frank made so we could pull engines. It also added some support to the main beam in the room that was sagging a bit.

Some disassembly pics as if u all haven't seen enough of them.

My goofy older bro Mike helped me move the engine over the front. he doesn't usually like to be in pics so this shot actually surprised me.

I have some cleaning and paint'in to do in here!

The real damage as you can see was two rods starved, broke and locked up breaking some webbing on the crank main bearing cradle.

Heres one rod cap compared to a slightly used one.

So it looks as if I am in for a short block at this point. Now i'm remembering the story the gal who drove it to it's death told me.
" I was on the highway and the engine was losing power but I didn't want to pull over".
Anyway the truck has been sitting for 3 years since the engine failure so I had to check the cams to see if I could be in for a long block.

Yeah I would say so. I don't care for the rust and I want to do it right. having a stock 3.0 doesn't really bother me I just need the truck functional.
Some more parts removed.

can they regrind those cams? into the ones they were talking about on the boards?
gonna go headers?
so i assume the 4runner was nearly free?

Thanks snap...the chicken wuz good.
Maybe headers down the road.
Whats yer price on that block?
Oh yeah since the webbing is broke on the cradle....does that affect the core value at all? or is it just the block that matters?

When I had the jasper put in my truck jasper would not let the shop take the old motor apart else they wouldnt accept it as core. I dont know how true that was, but thats what they said.
