my 4runner

ok. so i've been browsing this forum for almost two years now and i've been a member since i bought this truck for xmas. (a gift to myself!)

so far i've removed the stock power antenae and replaced it with a whip antenae off of a pickup, put on 31/10.5 dueler AT's, removed those lame running board, modified the airbox, swapped in warn premium hubs and bedlined the rockers and fenders.

today i ordered OME 901's, shocks f/r, and a stearing stablizer. those will be going on as soon as i recieve them and i'll update this thread, but for now, here's what i got:

enjoy and lemme know what ya'll think!!!

I like the bedliner. What exactly did you use and how did you do it? I'd like to do something like that to my 95.

Very nice Runner.

I`m also thinking about putting in a new steering stabilizer but not sure if its worth it.

If you notice any improvement of any sort in the steering can you post if it was worthwhile.

Thanks

Very nice 4runner. I like the bedliner bottom half. Please take off those headlight guard things....man they look funny. Kinda like dollar store sunglasses for your 4runner.

Nice 4runner, same year, drive train, and color as mine. Mine is still stock though. How did you apply the LineX to get a nice even arch over the wheel wells?

ok, to try and answer everything i'll say that for the bedliner i used the duplicolor in the spray can. thats why it's so even. as for the perfect lines over the wheel wells, i was many hours of pinstriping tape and then stepping back to look at it. i also had heard that this stuff doesn't stick well, and then found out that everybody who said that never sanded. i wet sanded all the areas with 120 grit very well before application.

faubrunner64--i currently live in santa rosa, but i'm moving to chico in the fall.

i'm putting on a new steering stablizer because i have some serious bump-steer going on....the steering stablizer looks like a strange shock that mounts on the steering components, i makes everything smoother.

i realize how bad of an idea this is but it's all good.

ghetto style ramp:

Wait till you trash warn hubs.. Yes they fail before AISIN's but sometimes a wheeler will want that! In fact I do! I am going to swap out my AISIN's on my SAS and put in my spare warns because after adding longfields my weekest link is now my 5:71 gears - and it is a HELL of a lot cheaper to replace hubs than it is 5:71's

So sometimes planning to have a weaker link like warn hubs is well... in the planning!

before any one says why are your against warn hubs, let me tell you.

One day on the trail my buddy broke 2 hubs.
He and I both carry spares. His right Warn hub breaks, its replaced with an Aisan stocker. Then he brakes the left side. That one gets swapped out.
This all happened on one section of the trail.
The Aisan hubs held up on that trail and the rest of the day. And will probly last forever.
Dont waste time with Warn hubs. I am just going to stick with thier winches.

i posted this on anothersite and got these replys:
Hold a Warn hub, then hold an Aisin. Trust me, you won't use Warn. They are "good enough" most of the time, but the Aisins are the bomb. The body is real Japanese steel, not funky mystery pot metal like the Warns. Perhaps the biggest advantage is the ability to use the OEM cone washers, which significantly strengthen the lockout/hub interface. There are lots of broken Warn hub stories, but I've never heard of a broken Aisin.

I broke a Warn on a F-250. I was less than impressed with the stock weight and design compared to the Aisin units.

I can attest to the amount of broken Warns I have seen... including a set on my own rig. I can count all the broken Aisins I have personally seen on 2 fingers, and both actually continued to be used, until they had a chance to swap them (UROC). Gotta love them Aisin parts...

Actually Warn Premium hubs are known around here to be just as strong as the Aisins. It's the regular Warn's that break.

I have had Warn Premium's on my 1992 4Runner almost since I bought it, and they haven't ever let me down. As a matter of fact, it's more likely for your CV's to snap than the hubs.
