I might get a new catalytic converter soon (I've been getting that rotten egg smell) and was thinking about getting a better muffler while I'm at it.

Do glasspacks and similar sounding muffler work very well on the 3VZE? I've always thought that those types of mufflers only sound good on V8's, but hey, I could be wrong.

 

Rotten egg could mean bad cat, but also clogged EGR, check the EGR first! A flowmaster 40 will sound good.

 

The FSM says you have to have something to pull a vacuum to test it, which I don't...

 

Well a new cat is $$, an egr valve is cheaper imho. Have someone test it, buy a vacuum tester at sears.

 

i cut my cat off and put a cherry bomb glasspack on it and it sounds good
