I have a 90 toyota xcab v6 5spd. On full tank of gas i get 180 miles. Man im so FREAKING PISS....

 

i got like 17mpg with my 3.slow i had

 

It's hard to guage other people's MPGs since most are just throwing a number up without you knowing what type of driving they do,how much is hwy,how much is city so without that info it's hard to compare your mileage with others.

on the highway and urban driving of about 150 miles a day I was averaging about 19mpg with the 3.0 5 speed and 4:10 gears. oh and 31X10.5's./ I have never really done any better than 19.5 so there is definitely room for improvement.

 

Please do not post how many miles you get per fill, as that means nothing. Top off your tank, reset your tripometer to zero and run a full tank. When you fill up again, top it off and do some basic math. Total distance traveled divided by X gallons of gas to top it off again. If you are running a tire larger then stock, barrow a GPS and calculate the difference in your tripometer.


Now my truck gets around 17-19mpg city or highway travel. I just passed the 250,000 mile mark on my truck the other weekend and have been driving on my super swampers for 2 weeks now. I don't accelerate very fast unless I am getting onto the freeway, shift gears around 3,000-3,500 rpms and I will do 75mph on the freeway if I am in a 70 zone.

Here is a example of the math I do to figure out my millage, my last tank was 18.2mpg with the super swampers traveling at 75mph on the way home from a wheeling trip and some city driving for a couple days after wards. I also floored it off a couple stop lights on this past tank after getting frustrated with extremly slow and or stupid drivers... But I still managed to get over 18mpg.

Tripometer reads 237.3 miles
Multiply that by 1.13 to get the actual distance traveled, 268.149 miles
Lets say I put in 14.678 gallons of gas to top it off again, that puts me at 18.269MPG.

I have yet to break 20MPG with 33's on my truck, but often times I can get 19MPG if I do not stomp on the gas pedal at all. So run full synthetic oil, keep your tires aired up around 32-35 psi, make sure you have clean filters all around and work on your driving style.

In Texas I was getting anywhere from 215-220 miles per tank. If I remember right it was around 16 mpg. I am currently in Chiapas, Mexico and I'm only getting around 12? mpg. I average about 130-140 miles per tank. The altitude here is about 8,000 ft above sea level. Anyone know if the altitude is effecting my gas mileage or perhaps the gas here in Mexico?

 

Probably isn't helping it any.... The poor quality gasoline down there might have something to do with it also.

Let's see, apparently now the 4th state (plasma) can now also be the third (gas).

And second what about vehicles with the best ignition systems out there, such as MSD's which spark several times per revolution, that fuel is BURNT. And how will you have fewer byproducts, this is a chemical reaction people, what comes in, in terms of mass HAS to come out, sans a small amount of carbon buildup.

 

im running 31 in tires at 37 lbs, a 5spd and getting 19mpg solid... no matter if its freeway driving or city driving...
maybe the fact that i have the ignition retarded and drive the speed limit has something to do with it?
