I've seen the prerunner look, with the spare taking up most of the bed. Go Rhino makes a prerunner light bar with a bar running back the bed for a spare. I just don't see one for our trucks. And this bar mounts to the bed rails.

Hey, kind of a thread hijack, but I've been thinking pretty hard lately on where to put a spare...

Shouldn't be under the truck, because that causes clearance losses.

In the back takes up the whole bed.

On the roof kills your gas mileage.

If you cut the back off a 4Runner though, would there be enough strength to support the spare on a swing out gate conversion?

EDIT: Actually, I think a good solution is mounting it on a swing out bumper.

why not get a set of the run-flat tires and not need a spare?

or maybe why not carry a tube or two so you can put some air into whatever tire goes flat?

Or I could just get solid rubber tires...Not much clearance but it might work...Maybe if I got some portal gear axles...
