I just bought a factory SR5 center console (between the seats) in my attempt to de-deluxe my truck.. But my question pertains to how it's mounted. There are no screw mounts or clips.

Anybody have any info? It would be much appreciated!

You are likely missing the brackets.

The holes will be taped over at the factory

It's jus bolted thru the floor. If you crawl under the truck , the plate the center console bolts to might be visible, I believe mine is held to truck by the bolts for the seatbelt receiver.

 

If you look under the truck above the transfer case/transmission area you will see 4 bolts attached in pairs to 2 small reinforcing brackets. These are the ones covered by the small tape circles (the 4 small black dots in the above pic) under the carpet between the seats. The armrest portion of the center console attaches to them through the 4 holes in the bottom of it. The front shifter surround portion is attached to 2 forked brackets that are attached in front of and behind the shifter assembly. On factory installs these are welded to the floor but there is room to bolt them in [which is what I did on my conversion] you will need a friend to help though since no one's arms are long enough to reach both places at the same time lol...

 

Dont mind all the junk. This is when i was doing a 4 runner seat and center consol swap. I still havent mounted my center consol cause i take it out during hunting season. But maybe i will this year.

I did a search since I'm getting ready to do the 4Runner buckets/console swap on my daughters truck. I only found a thread from you giving away a seat but nothing on doing the swap. Maybe got lost with a forum upgrade or you posted to someone else thread and didn't make your own. No big deal.

Since I have the 4Runner console, it's different than the pickup center console. The 4Runner had a rear seat heater motor under it and very little console space. I think what I'm going to do is cut out the floor of the plastic console and make a deeper storage area for it out of sheet metal. Should be easy to do and will make mounting the plastic cover much easier.

And I feel obligated to tell you all that's not rust in my picture, just the cement the dealer used to install the carpet.

 

If you cut the bottom out and sleeve the plastic sides inside the metal box and then line it with the fabric they sell for wrapping speakers it will look nice and be safe as far as sharp edges go... you could bolt or/and glue the metal to the plastic.

 

You guys are fantastic! Absolutely fantastic! I'm currently working on a metal box/carpet idea I had that aviator also brought up. Thanks for all pictures, links, and information!

Will do. Going to be a couple weeks before it happens tho. I have all the parts but not the time right now.

 

I have the heater and probably extra brackets if you want them. Bought for the same reason, but ended up getting a console out of a pickup.
