Sorry, I meant $10 I'll take it.

Nope, someone bought it for $100, I advertised it for $120. He wanted to tow something with his 4Runner.

Why would anyone want to do that?

It is a cheap and viable option for 4runner and Tacoma owners: paying for a used hitch may be more cost effective compared to having the mounting system properly fabricated. I’ve run two different rear bumpers and can attest to the strength of the factory hitch. If you ask for advice, we may just give it to you…

Relax buddy, if you'd followed what Jay351 and I were saying, you would have realized that I was making reference to the fact that thought he could actually tow with a 4Runner. I guess "subtleties" aren't your thing.

What thickness would you say the frame-to-bumper mount is? Would 1/4" be sufficient?

That thickness looks closer to 5/16" or 3/8ths....but it's been a long day.

I'd go at least a hair thicker than a quarter, but I always tend to think things need to be over built. Technically I probably doesn't need to be much thicker than the frame I suppose. I'd still over build it on my own rig.

The frame is fully boxed, this is only flat cutout.

I want to keep weight down and I don't think the plasma cutter will cut that (but it might, dunno). The MIG I use can't do much over 3/16" I think. Whether that means that I only get the strength of a 3/16" weld on any thickness material or otherwise, I don't know.

I've enquired into buying JUST the frame mounts from the MC rear bumper. That would make my project simpler. I don't want to cut them out of 3/8"+ steel with an angler grinder.

Apparently, you cannot just buy the MC brackets. I may keep pursuing that avenue though. Those MC brackets (above) look close to 1/2", can anyone attest to that?

Back to this style of mount, the rear section of frame is nowhere near flat, there's the plate extending of the rear tie-downs, and some piece for between where the body mount mounts to the frame. Does the bumper mounting plate just go over all that?
