I'm just curious if any of you have bothered trying to mod and spruce up these hidious OEM wheels? I'm being a tight-wad and considering a paint/polish scheme. If anybody has done this, please post some pictures.

The first thing you could do to spruce up those wheels is get some different tires. Maybe some BFG's, or maybe remount those tires so the white lettering isn't showing. They look much better that way. Other then that they are aluminum alloys. I perosonally think the stock steel wheels and alloy wheels look fine. Ive seen people with painted wheels and all sorts of different things and 99% of the time all I can think to myself is how tacky it looks.

 

I agree that the white lettring blows, but I just bought this truck a week ago. It needs tires so I'll be replacing them as soon as I know what I'm going to do about wheels. I'm sure the OEMs are structurally good sound wheels, but with what they spent to make these, they could have actually made wheels that look good. It may be just my opinion, but I've never hated the looks of a set of wheels more that I hate these.
Maybe I'll just paint them hot-pink and sell them in Hollywood

 

Couple of options....you could drop them off to a powdercoating shop and they could powedercoat them (many colors but probably $). The other method would be to POR-15 them and paint them flat black.

 

Here's a thread that was started a while back and shows a couple different things you can do and also CallMeJ on here w/ his powdercoating business. He can do more than just the color black if you would like it to look simular to stock.

Just my $.02 but I think the OEM alloys look great way better then the OEM steel ones. I've been trying to get a set but you just can't find them anywhere around here it seems.
I do agree though those would look better without the white letters showing and maybe a good polishing job to brighten them up. aviator

I vote on sending them to callmej75 to have him powdercoat them. He powdercoated my aftermarket wheels and they turned out great.

 

I do appreciate that and I'd like to give him the biz, but IMO they're not worth the price of shipping one way ... much less both ways. Is he by any chance located in So-Cal?

$400ish for the wheels plus another $400+ for new tires...

 

Yeah I'll swap my ugly chrome slightly rusted wheels for them. I think those aluminum wheels look great.

 

is it possible to chrome spraypaint those wheels? i have the same ones

 

I recenly sprayed my 7-spoke steelies with Krylon Silver Hammered Finish paint. It looked like the previous owner got it stuck in a gravel pit and spun the wheels. Stripped off much of the paint on 2 of the wheels. The result turned out pretty well, even if I DID do it myself.
