Missing Vacuum hose to cause Chk Eng Light?
These pictures are from my 1995 SR5...Can somebody please tell me if these two connectors are missing a connecting hose or are they supposed to be like this, or where should they connect? The one picture showing the black stem is located just behind the battery (passenger side fender wall) My check engine light has been on forever (code 25) and silly me has just noticed these 'open connections?'. Please help. -Brian

So, for the one in the first pic, cap it, reset the check engine light and run for a while but to be fair, we really need the codes AFTER you reset the light to help you.

Boy I'm good some days ...
CODE 25
System: Air-Fuel Ratio Lean Malfunction
Malfunction Indicator Lamp: Normal Mode ON, Test Mode ON
Diagnosis: (1) Heated oxygen sensor output is less than 0.45 V for at least 90 seconds. When heated oxygen sensor is warmed up (racing at 2,000 rpm) and drive at 50 - 100 km/h, (2) (California only) When the engine speed varies by more than 15 rpm over the preceding crankshaft position period during a period of 50 seconds during idling with the engine coolant temperature. 75°C (167°F) or more. (2 trip detection logic only - 1 and 2)
Trouble Area: Engine ground bolt loose, Open in E1 circuit, Open in injector circuit, Fuel line pressure (Injector blockage, etc.), Open or short in heated oxygen sensor circuit, Heated oxygen sensor, Ignition system, Engine coolant temperature. sensor, Volume air flow meter (Air intake), ECM
I underlined this bit as I think this is your problem. You can actually see on the brass tube where the cap used to be and has slightly darkened the brass tube.
Universal vacuum connection caps are dirt cheap at an auto parts store...just generic, not Toy specific.

I cannot see from the pic. Is it one leg of a tee connection ???
Pull the grommet out of the firewall with the vac hoses still running through and take another pic.
I would check on mine but as of 2 weeks ago, it took its last ever run to the breakers yard on the back of a rollback

Today is a good day! I capped the end, reset the computer... It started rough at first, and I guess that's normal from what I've read. It takes a couple of drives for everything to re-adjust? Anyways, after driving it, parking it and driving it a few times, I must say it drives like a new truck and the engine runs verrry smoooth! It has around 180k on it now. This has really been bugging me for a while and I didn't feel like spending much on it right now. I feel like an idiot now that I didn't see it before. I did take it to the dealership this past week to have the recall done, and they checked it out as well. They told me I needed a new oxygen sensor, spark plugs, among other things. I had put platinum plugs in a while back and he told me that this motor doesn't like the platinum plugs at all. An sense to that?
A dollar part can do wonders sometimes!
Thanks for the help!
