Missing this hose/connector. What is it? Temp control?

I was looking at my engine and noticed I don't have this hose/connector on my engine but others do? (Circled in red). Any idea what it is and what it does? My temperature gauge has never worked and I put a new sensor in 3 days ago and that didn't fix the problem, maybe because I'm missing whatever this is? Help's appreciated! Thanks

Its the egr temperature sensor. My '92 3.0 4Runner is not equipped with this sensor, but my '95 is. May depend on year and/or whether Cali emissions or not.
Has nothing to do with the temperature gauge.
