Missing AC belt? Maybe?Missing a belt!

First of I am a newbie! Second when crawling underneath my 1987 4runner, skid plate removed, I look up and see:

Two wheels on the right hand side underneath the engine bay with no belt, looks like it maybe be is the Air Conditioning motor or something that is bringing in air from the from of the front of truck with metal tubes.

Help me please! The truck runs good no issues.

Both 22re and 3vze have the A/C on the pass. side....or right side if you're looking up on while your back. And since I'm assuming you can steer it's not the power steering. So, the only other option.....and since it is the only component under there with metal tubes...it's the A/C. The two wheels/pulleys are the one for the compressor and the other the belt tensioner. The two tubes don't bring air....they are full of refrigerant.

Yep, that's the a/c.

Need a new seal on that oil pump, too. It's behind that big pulley to the right (in the pic) of the a/c.

It was bypassed for a reason. Compressor probably bad or siezed. Who needs AC anyway?

Thanks for the awesome replies. Yota tech rocks!

Should I try to put a new belt on that.

And thook got any more info on the oil pump, is that an easy fix. Its a mess down there with oil, does not drip when parked, but its got a whole lot of oil and junk everywhere down there!

Like Unclebob said, there may be a reason it was bypassed. See if the compressor pulley will turn freely. If so, then go ahead and put a belt on.....see what you get. You may still not get a/c, but you certainly won't hurt anything by trying. It's just the a/c, afterall. Maybe the system needs recharging, maybe needs a new compressor clutch, maybe a new compressor altogether.....and maybe it's rigged by the mafia for the previous owner. Put a new belt on.....kablooey!!! Mine is bypassed at the moment because I have a big hole in one hose. Something to look for.

The oil pump seal....or "main seal"....is a tad involved, I guess. You'll have to pull the crankshaft pulley off to get to the seal. That's the hardest part. The bolt holding it is on there quite snug. But, before trying to remove the pulley/bolt, it's a good idea to drain and remove the radiator. It can get in the way and even be damaged in the process of removing the crank pulley.
