Misfire : 3VZ

well as many of you know, i've rebuilt my 3vz, got around 200 miles on it i believe and it's running pretty good

i DID NOT HAVE THE INJECTORS CLEANED. but everything else was cleaned up pretty good...with the exception of forgetting to clean the upper intake manifold and i simply ran out of time to do it. there was some buildup in the manifold..but not much.

okay with that being said..here's my problem.

truck runs good until i'm out on the highway cruising 60-65 in 5th gear...punch the gas and it will accelerate "like it should" (meaning slow lol) drop down to 4th gear...and it seems like i have a cylinder misfire for a few seconds and then it stops and runs like a raped ape.

i have brand new spark plugs..but not new plug wires...but the plug wires i do have are NOT cheapo wires...they're Expensive wires..i was told the wires were prolly $60-$100 for the set.

plugs are NGK's gapped to .036 and i have my timing set at about 14*.

i also deleted my EGR system completely.

NO CEL.

i haven't tried to pull the codes yet either.

Maybe crossed the egr vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator?

Try running some seafoam in the fuel tank and hook up a can to a vacuum hose to clean the intake.

Thanks Bugs you too!!!!!

after i check the vacuum lines, i believe i'll change the fuel filter, it seems to be getting a little worse everyday.

i also have a oil leak at both of my Cam Seals at the back of the heads.....i'll have to pull the motor to replace them, BUT before that, i'm going to run some Valvoline MaxLife for about 3000 miles, and see if that will help any, i've heard it has some kinda "seal swelling" additive, might slow the leak down.

ya know, i have been noticing a bad fuel smell lately.

my first guess when that comes along....is

1. Leaking injector, probably not sealed at the fuel rail properly.

2. fuel line fitting, maybe?

and that's about it.

this could also be causing my slight misfire, correct?

My truck had the same problem! Had to change the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filer and all six fuel injectors! The inside of the tank was real bad with rust! I guess it clogged eveything up. Now it runs like a champ. So camo I hope u fix ur problem on ur rig man. Happy New Yeaar fellow Yotatechers!
