Milky white oil cap -.-

So topic basicly sais most of it. I have a 92 22re with 435xxx kms, I checked the radiator and it defenitly has some oil in it, this must have just started to leak because i check my oil and coolant regularly. Would anyone be able to give me a rough estimate on how long i have until this starts doing some serious damage? or my engine simply stops running?

thx

From: Bryan Tx,
Timing chain guides wear out and cut the aluminum timing cover, mixing the oil & coolant on 22re's pretty often.

If you plan on DDing it, your on borrowed time. Its leaking now, but could go at any time.

x2 I had an Integra that had milky oil and it spun a bearing the next day. Stop driving and start saving for parts

You should get it taken care of soon before you do more damage and have to replace the whole motor

Head gasket set, timing chain kit and timing cover. I would change all that atleast. Might as well if your pulling the head to replace the gasket. Read a manual before you start pulling bolts, plus bag and tag everything you take off. Take pics of every bolt you pull. Wish someone would have told me these things the first time I tore an engine apart.

I've got a complete 4 piece front end kit from ENGNBLDR that I purchased about a month ago. Bought it thinking my timing chain and guides went kaput and came to find out it was in good shape. If you need that kit PM me and we can work something out..........

kinda new to these things...work on semi engines mostly and wasnt sure...but on big engines, oil coolers are usually the culprit on those engines when there is oil in the coolant and not coolant in the oil....doubt this is helpful at all cuz i dont think these engins have oil coolers, but Its a try...

Yes when i pull the disptick out it is just pure oil. and then a bit of white crap in the oilcap.

If i look into the radiator u can see oil swimming in the coolant.

I live in a townhouse complex so i dont really have any room to do a lot of work on it myself :\ and was really just thinkin about getting a new engine dropped in.

But if i pull the head cover off and look at were the timing chain is should i be able to see if its worn out and thrashed? or do i have to pull out hte camshaft and valves and whatnot?

Sry for all the questions, really newb wrencher

Might not be a bad idea to update your profile to reflect where you live. I'd be good money that there is someone close that can stop by and give you a hand looking at it. You might even luck out and find a wrenching buddy that will help you fix it.

alright well i guess ill go buy a compression test guage tommorow then and do that. What is a leak down test?

also if my headgasket is blown, or the timing chain guides are worn out, would i notice any sounds or my engine acting weird when i actually drive it

Since i noticed the white stuff in the cap i have driven it a bit and it still seems to drive the same as always.

another thing we experience here in the shop a lot of times is that if the coolant leaking into oil isnt very bad yet, a lot of times the coolant evaporates once it hits the oil due to high oil temps....once again, i work on semis mostly, so dont take my word for gold, but that would explain why there is a white residue on the cap and not showing any in the oil...could be moisture evaporating upwards.

The other thing i noticed, i started the engine and let it warm up, and when i was sitting inside i could liquids moving around. sounded like it was coming from behind the dash or something. was a very weird sound

ALSO...
Since your engine is SOOOOO high mileage, we can assume that the timing chain guides are toast, and the chain wore a hole through the cover..
I'd be willing to bet that that's the problem.

Was the sound a slight tapping that didn't change with RPM, and happened at random?
