mercedes diesel swap

My 94 4 runner has no compression. The body and interior and running gear are perfect. Has anyone put a mercedes diesel in a 4runner? I have considered it for my cruisers but they just won't quit. I need a motor or a buyer for the 4runner.
thanks for the ideas in advance

Come on I am interested too. I have a friend with several old 240 D sedans and wagons most all diesel some wrecked low mileage. He also has a $Runner with a blown headgasket, warped head etc no help from dealer. I don't know the specifics but...$$$.

Yes, it has been done with a 4-cylinder Mercedes diesel. I'm afraid, my searches to find the write-up have all failed though. A straight-6 diesel is reportedly too long for the engine bay (even longer than a Supra engine) so they aren't a viable option without heavy mods to firewall and/or radiator core support. In any case, there are no adapters, mounts, etc. out there to help you with the swap, everything will have to be fabricated by yourself.

I don't think there is a 6 cylinder Mercedes Diesel engine, just 4s (240s) and 5s (300/350s). There is a write up somewhere on here where a guy is building a first gen for a disaster recovery vehicle and is doing the 300D swap. I can't for the life of me find that thread though. If someone has it subscribed or something please post that up because it is a great write up on all kinds of stuff including making that motor work.

True. I'm confusing them with something else. The 300 gasoline engines are inline-6 though, right?

There was a guy on the offroad/toyota forums that did a swap with the MB diesel engine. Cant remember which one, but when I talked with him about the swap a few years ago, seemed pretty normal of an engine swap as far as difficulty. I would love to go that swap or a 3LT toyota engine

Been done on pirate before, but good luck finding the thread w/o a star.

Did you consider buying a half-cut from Jarco with a 1kz?

That would keep it Toyota

I figured there would be some interest in this. There is a place that does the swap for the cruiser. I am trying to find the link and get some advice from them. Let's figure this out and make a kit.

if it isn't the turbo'd 300D engine i'd skip it. you might look into a VW TDI. i know someone was doing them in Samurai's but they were the older ones.
