mechanical oil pressure gage

mechanical oil pressure gage
what is the thread size (diameter and pitch) of the hole in the block for the factory oil pressure sender. I thought it was 1/8 w/ standard threads, but it is slightly smaller. any idea?
thanks

i thought they were 1\8" BSP not NPT threads.
"standard" 1\8" NPT (National Pipe Thread) has 27 threads per inch
1\8" BSP (British Standard Pipe) has 28 per inch.
though i have succesfully used 1\8" NPT fittings in numerous 1\8" BSP holes with no problems.

i had a 1/8x1/8x1/8 tee that i was going to thread into the block and have the factory sensor and my mechanical gage screwed into. the factory gage threads into the tee (the thread pitch is the same, but the diameter of the sensor is ever so slightly smaller than the tee), but the tee will not thread into the block (the block is slightly smaller than the tee). I'm pretty sure the thread pitch is the same, but not the diameter. is this possible, and what would i need to make this work?
thank you ahead of time

On my cruiser it is metric thread, I'd assume that is the same for you. I believe there is a T available that has a metric male and a metric female on one end and SAE on the other. I seem to think I saw them in a VW catalog or BAP.
I wish I could remember so I could get one.

Well I finally found out what threads are on my oil pressure sender. The gage has 1/8 BSPT (British standard pipe thread TAPER). In order to hook up a mechanical oil pressure gage, you need a 1/8 BSPT male to 1/8 NPT (national pipe thread) adapter. I ended up getting an Autometer #2269 adapter. I ended up getting a street T in 1/8 NPT. I used the adapter to screw the T into the block. Because the stock sender is slightly smaller than the T, I was able to thread the sender into the T. On the other part of the T I ran the copper line to the gage. Now I have both gages working. Just thought I would let you all know, because apparently nobody else knew.
