measuring back spacing on wheels

can anyone tell me the correct way to measure how much back spacing my wheels have? thanks!

Yup, for the WMS to the rim.

Set the wheel on the ground such that the inside of it is facing up.
Put a straight edge across the rim.
Measure from the straight edge down to the surface that sits against the hub when it's mounted.
