1. He knows its a 4x4 but he wants to make it a prerunner...what is so hard to understnad about that. Most of the work is already done for what he is wanting in a rig.
2. It is his truck he can do as he pleases.
3. He seems to want to do it right and have professional looking results. I know its hard to understand why he doesnt want a 4x4 but he isnt climbing rocks or running through a mud hole. He is running on sand and jumping dunes. He is building his truck accordingly. If i wanted the best rock crawler possible i wouldnt want people telling me to get a 94 with stock ifs. I would want the info i need to make my truck better. He doesnt need testimony about why he needs to keep the front diff or why he needs to buy a 2wd.

SLCpunk- Good luck with the truck. Seems like a few good ideas have been thrown out there for you
im with gilby. it eats me up when someone says they wanna do something to THEIR truck and people say "thats so stupid" "why would you do that" (unless it really is stupid and not well thought out like this guy) everyone has their own opinon but still.. give the guy a break. i would LOVE to have a toyota prerunner to drive through the desert and jump. anyways good luck with your yota SLC whatever you do

Those who have been cool about this thanks

Just so everyone else knows I already said I want to do I different rear axle and re-gear it. I will not use the 4wd nor will I spend the money to re-gear it. If I have the front a different ratio then it is just dead weight. Dont tell me to re-valve this or that because wether you know or not it is not going to help me until I get the front lighter. The thing handles great as is but I always want more and I am going to try and run some races and well lets just say we dont have silt beds here so 2wd is good for me.

um i mean if you need some extra boost when your stuck. but a locked rear 2wd is good as a 4x4 open so it alright to make a 4x4 a prerunner

There has been a lot of confusion about what my truck is so instead of explaining it here is a vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntfycFeajIQ

Thanks again for the help. I hope to get this thing to be 2wd very soon and then I need to find a t100 rear or step up to a nine"

is one of these you?

if not, are you running leafs in the rear like these guys?

if so, I'd say there's your nose-dive problem there...

all goes back to spring rate and shock rebound rate, as was suggested earlier...

IMO

btw, that's a sick video; I remember stumbling accross it a while ago

looks sick. yeah, i get what u mean now about nose diving. but every prerunner ive seen has that. unavoidable to a degree. the built ones do it later on in the jump, not early on like yours, if you went any higher you'd probably be buried nose first. now what i see what you mean (i knew the type of playing, but i didnt know u were divin that bad) yeah ditch the front diff. curious, it might have been said, but what engine are you running?

Actually it really just depends on the jump Im just saying anything I can do to help would be good. We have jumped it bigger and it sailed pretty level but that jump was really lame with a very short flat lip that kicked us badly.
Sadly I am running the 3.0 till I can find a decent price on a 3.4 so yeah thats why the spool and low low gears are in order so I can hit the dunes this summer.

I have hanneman glass on it with the tundra style bedsides. I would rather go with someone else because the fiberglass fenders on my jeep from them fit horrible. I did not fit the yodas fenders so I have no idea how bad or good they were to work with.
When I actually find a job or maybe win the lotto I want to make my own front suspension kit and run a triple bypass along with my coilover and get the tundra style one piece clip.
