low, low, LOW power
hi everyone! our 88 dolphin (toyota pickup based motorhome) has lost a lot of power lately, and is down to i would say 40% when cold (even after 5 min idling warmup which gets the temp gauge up about a quarter). it takes about 15 minutes to have max power which i would say is at 70 % of normal, even
slight inclines need 2nd gear (it's automatic) and even then it's not
holding 35 or 40 miles unless i hit the bottom. stronger inclines
demand 1st now. it is otherwise running pretty fine apart from a
clanking sound when idling, but it is slight and not always. it certainly does not qualify as 'rough idling' (yet?)
btw we are at sea level....
what should i check first? what next? ;-)
oh, the only thing i did recently was a new oxygen sensor (pre cat)
and i started using 'gas pills' which have worked fine 4 me b4 (15%
better mpg)...
gas consumption is up a little, but as the pills are supposed to save
gas, it may be a bigger actual loss of efficiency, obscured by the
pills...
thx, thilo

Since you mentionied some little pills that you put in the fuel I'd have to say check the fuel filter first. Some of the residue from the pills might have clogged the filter. Air filter also just as an after thought.
After that the list gets pretty big pretty fast.
