Loss of power while driving
Greetings, It's more than possible that this has already been posted somewhere on here, but I didn't see it when scanning the forums.
Please forgive the repeat of the subject, and please guide me to where I can find the helpful information, most likely already here.... somewhere.
While driving my '91 V-6, 4X4 along the road, I can be cruising along at 70mph, and suddenly it will start to lose power, and go into somewhat of a bogging mode.
If I downshift to 4th gear, it may stay in the same bogging mode, to where I am going much slower than I was, forcing me to shift into 3rd gear,
This sometimes seems to force the engine into trying to work again, in a quick moment, and take longer at other times.
At first I thought it was the distributor, so I was able to replace it with a new one. However, the issue still remains.
I thought about the coil, but usually, if a coil goes out, it does not recover, and run correctly again.
I was thinking it could be the cold start injector, suddenly adding fuel, maybe thinking the engine was cold, as it seems like it is almost flooding the engine.
However, this happens after I have been driving it for a while on the freeway, at a steady speed on flat and even going down hill.
Has anyone else had this happen? if so, what did you do to remedy the problem? I am stumped, and I hate that feeling.
Thank you in advance for your help.
