loss of power after new timming belt

So yesterday I replaced my
timing belt
idler pulley
water pump
thermostat
pulley tensioner
power steering belt
alternator belt
fan belt
coolant
oil and filter
all at 215,565 miles. I talked with a Toyota master tech and he told me to set the timing at 7-8 degrees above 0 , so I did just that and now I have good power in the lower gears but when I shift into 3rd Thur 5th there is a total lack of power compared to how it was running with the old stuff. Also the gas mileage so far has gone to the toilet 30 on a quarter tank so far and not looking to be getting better. Has anyone else have this issue after doing the timing belt?? Any ideas how to make the power back and mileage come back?? is the timing the issue here?? if so what should I set the timing too to get the power and mileage back?? any info will be greatly appreciated

Your problem is more than likely your timing. It should be set at 10-12 degrees btdc.

Yep....you're timing is retarded..hehe.

BTW, that master tech is probably thinking of the 22re...or he's retarded, too.
