Losing Clutch Fluid
I have a 87' 4Runner with a 22-re and was an automatic from factory but was converted to a 5 speed, the problem is i was going down the road yesterday and all of the sudden i couldnt get the truck in gear, and the clutch pedal had no tension , i got to a friends house and checked the clutch fluid and it was empty, i filled it and pumped the clutch and it works fine now... i looked at the slave and clutch master cylinder and no leaks, also checked the lines... any suggestions ?

Thats what i figured... but the slave and master cylinder are dry... i am guessing that when i bought the truck it was low, or possibly had air in it, alot of air... ive only had the truck 4 weeks now... should i try to bleed the hell out of it and if that doesnt work just replace the slave ?

That sounds like a good idea. Bleed them, make sure every connection is tight and dry, and if you still losing fluid, it's more than likey the slave; for some reason they tend to go first. If you've got the extra cash on you though, replace the master with it, cuz it's probably not far behind.

Check inside the cab at the firewall. Mine is leaking there, it drips and is absorbed into the carpet. Just found that on mine last week. Anyone know if it can be rebuilt or a just a seal replaced? I can probably get my hands on a used clutch m/c if needed.

x2. Mine leaked inside on to the carpet too. Don't know if you can get a rebuild kit or not. I just bought new from Toyota.

I currently have the same issue. Master leaking on interior of firewall.
For the record, Partsamerica.com sells rebuild kits for both the master and the slave.
I think i will just buy them off of MC. OEM toyota.

Yeah, well i checked Autozone and they had the Master Cylinder NEW not a rebuild with a lifetime warranty for $27.99,and it came with the reservoir and a little rubber floater to show the level- so i couldnt beat that...they also have the slave cyl. NEW for $13.99 with a lifetime warranty....

Recently in my 004runner master went, no leaking but jut no pedal. Replaced the slave first then the master.. I was told to check under the boot of the slave, sometimes the fluid just accumulates there.
I agree.. bleed it first.

^^^^ Whut he said. Buy a new one and don't bother with a used unless you plan on rebuilding it yourself.
